“On Stravinsky – Le Sacre du Printemps”

Author: Gonzalo SaavedraEl Mercurio

“His pulse is so exact, and his attention to detail so effective, that he made the orchestra sound as never before in this work. (…) His conception is rigorous, yet leaves a personal imprint in the extended silences full of mystery, in the contrast of tempi, and in the finely shaped crescendi with dynamics controlled at all times. (…) With secure leadership, the orchestra performed with discipline and inspiration. (…) A mature and precise interpretation — a complete success.”

“On Bartók – Miraculous Mandarin”

Author: Juan Antonio MuñozEl Mercurio

“Helmuth Reichel Silva is a conductor of the highest level. Beyond his profound musical knowledge, he approaches each work from a highly refined personal perspective, never yielding to superficial effects or self-display. A serious musician with an unusually developed ear, he shaped the most varied rhythms and a timbral tapestry that at times seemed inexhaustible. His decisions regarding tempo, dynamics, articulation, and balance were consistently precise. Conducting Bartók’s The Miraculous Mandarin, he maintained suspense and tension throughout, conveying its restless world of mystery, violence, and passion. Achieving such a distinctive and evocative sound from this complex fabric of textures is extremely difficult — and Reichel succeeded. Admirable.”

“The highlight of the night (…) lifted Reichel to a moment of glory. Conducting a work comparable to a dizzying roller coaster—full of endless rises and falls in rhythm, sonorities, intensities, and melodic eruptions—his baton displayed admirable command. Maintaining absolute control over a musically complex tapestry, Reichel drew from the orchestra a wide and finely crafted palette of responses. The Philharmonic sounded agile and brilliant, as it is rarely heard. The conductor, hailed as ‘King-Reichel,’ remains on the throne of champions.”

“Full of emotional contrasts—from vertiginous orchestral and piano passages to lyrical, contemplative moments—the performance once again demonstrated the great talent of both artists. Quinteros shone with virtuosic agility and poetic sensitivity, while Reichel conducted with commanding authority through an intricate and demanding score. Together, they were triumphant.”
